A slot machine as a weapon? Well, they can be pretty dangerous to your wallet but in Slots & Skulls you spin to fight.

Players build their own slot machine from the symbols they win across a run, then risk those symbols at the anvil to make them stronger. The developer emailed GamingOnLinux to note how it was built for fans of Luck Be a Landlord and Slots & Daggers, the game adds a push-your-luck layer on top of every spin.

It not only has Native Linux support, but with was built with the Steam Deck in mind, as the developer was regularly playtesting it there. They said:

"Slots and Skulls hasn't gone through Steam's official Steam Deck compatibility review yet, so the rating shows as "Unknown" and you won't see an automatic badge on the store page. I don't want that to be misleading, though.
As someone who loves playing games on Steam Deck myself, I've been testing on it regularly since the earliest stages of development. So far I haven't run into any compatibility issues, controls, text readability, and performance all work smoothly on Steam Deck."

Key Features
  • Slot-machine roguelite combat: Stop reels to unleash attacks, spells and other effects, building your symbol pool from 112 options.
  • Shape your build: Buy and remove symbols between fights, combine active and passive power-ups, and tackle ten levels with increasingly challenging enemies.
  • Risky upgrades: Improve symbols at the forge, where failed attempts can destroy them. Gems can improve your odds or protect your equipment.
  • Progress between runs: Keep earned skulls after death to spend on upgrades, modifiers, abilities and cats whose pacts offer benefits with drawbacks.
  • Online multiplayer and automation: Challenge a friend in drafted 1v1 matches or direct duels, or use optional auto modes to focus on build decisions.

Something to be clear on, is that it has used some generative AI for translations:

"Generative AI was used only to translate in-game and store text into other languages except Turkish and English.

I'm actively exploring community-driven localization efforts and am also in discussions with professional translation teams to improve the quality of the translations. "
