Valve are clearly making preparations for the Steam Frame to finally get a proper release this month - with a new Release Candidate Beta build of SteamVR. If you say Steam Frame three times in a mirror - maybe Gabe will finally reveal the price and release date.
We don't yet have any official dates but there's been plenty of rumours floating around about Monday, and several YouTube creators have teased they have the Steam Frame for review (but not us - Valve didn't reply still). So I'll be keeping an eye out.
SteamVR Beta 2.17.8 changesSteamVR:
- Improve dashboard placement and motion behavior.
- Prevent several cases that would cause video corruption on NVIDIA cards when using Steam Link.
- When an overlay’s grab handle is selected, the joystick now pushes and pulls it faster.
- Fix keyboard summon/dismiss triggering dashboard motion.
- Fix crash using Steam Link on Linux when games submit invalid textures.
- Fix stutters when using Steam Link on NVIDIA cards.
- Improve streaming recovery when using Steam Link on Linux.
- Move less frequently used window controls to “Additional Options” Menu, and added option to toggle curvature.
Steam Link:
- Adds initial support for USB streaming.
- USB streaming can be used without WiFi by opting into the Steam Client Beta.
- Fix loading spinner flickering when framerate in game is low.
- Fix case where wrong framerates could show in SteamVR Settings.
- Latency improvements.
