That day is here! Factorio 2.1 stable has arrived as a big clean-up release along with new platform support with their Native Linux version. It's now been 2 years since the Space Age DLC released. How time flies huh?
With this update they didn't focus on any big one feature, it's mostly ensuring the game continues running smoothly long-term with what they said is a "big collection of quality of life, small features, polish, and the things we wanted to do for 2.0 but didn't have time for". There are some new graphical bits that made it in though like
- New assembling machines, oil refinery, rocket silo, and heat exchanger.
- A new pump rendering system that can connect to fluid wagons no matter how cursed your station is.
- Diagonal flamethrower turret.
- Planets visible in the background of space platforms.
Plus various other gameplay tweaks.
A big one is the addition of ARM64 support for Linux. From their announcement: "Factorio now runs natively on ARM64 Linux, which means the game runs on Steam Frame, Raspberry Pi (headless servers), Asahi Linux on Apple Silicon MacBooks, the free VPS you claimed from Oracle that one time, and other assorted hardware."
A new and updated trailer has also been released to mark the occasion:

Perhaps playing it with a huge cinema-styled screen on my Steam Frame will finally make me complete it.
